The local branch of the Padmasambhava Buddhist Center
is happy to be able to provide opportunities to practice Buddhism in the
Nyingma tradition for the Chicagoland area. We are very fortunate to have
regular visits from our teachers, the Khenpos, for retreats in Chicago.
Our members are frequently traveling to the New York center and throughout
the country to attend retreats and often get together for other Buddhist
related events (and the occasional movie). We hold weekly practices on
Tuesdays and monthly practices with a potluck dinner on the first Sunday
of every month. Anyone interested in attending is welcome and encouraged,
we love to meet new people.

The Padmasambhava Buddhist Center spreads the teachings
of Buddhism according to the Nyingma school lineage of Tibet. The Center
was first established in New York in 1989 with the encouragement of His
Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche by Ven. Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche and Ven.
Khenpo Tsewang Dongyal Rinpoche. Khenchen Palden and Khenpo Tsewang, known
informally as "the Khenpos," are the teachers and spiritual
leaders of PBC. They also direct the activities of the New York Center,
its many branches in the U.S.A., Puerto Rico and Russia, and its retreat
center Padma Samye Ling in upstate New York. Their Sarnath Project in
India has flourished with a traditional monastic institute and retreat
center called Padma Samye Chokhor Ling; another monastic college and retreat
center located in Shravasti, India called Padma Samye Jetvan is under
construction. See http://www.padmasambhava.org
for more information.
